Tour description:

From the Hochgern hiking car park, first along forest paths and later on a wide forest road below Agersgschwendt in an easterly direction into the Kaltenbach valley. The last stretch to the ridge between Hochgern and Rechenberg is on a beautiful path. The alpine pastures are idyllically situated on the sunny hill. Wonderful view towards Achental with Geigelstein and Hochplatte and towards Ruhpolding with the valley floor Röthelmoos and the Hörndlwand. Arrival by car

A8 Munich-Salzburg to the Bernau exit, then continue on the B305 to Marquartstein. At the end of the town, turn left, cross the historic Achen bridge and then immediately turn right into Alte Dorfstraße. Where this bends to the right, continue straight up the hill to the Hochgern hiking car park. Large, free car park!

Arrival by public transport

Take the RVO bus line 9505 or 9508 towards Reit im Winkl to the Marquartstein-Rathaus stop.
