Packed your swimsuit and picnic blanket? Then let's go - and preferably by bike so you don't have to worry about parking. There are 50 lakes in Chiemgau. The largest is Chiemsee, the warmest is Waginger See and the highest is Taubensee. Lido with playground, cosy bay or a shady spot by the unfathomable moorland lake - the choice is yours.

Chiemgau in Bavaria not only offers an impressive Alpine landscape, but also numerous opportunities for swimming in idyllic surroundings. There are numerous lakes that invite you to swim in summer. Above all the Chiemseealso known as the "Bavarian Sea", with its clear water and picturesque islands, is ideal for extended swimming trips. However, smaller lakes such as Waginger See, Reifinger See and Griessee also offer ideal conditions for a refreshing dip in the great outdoors.

Swimming at Lake Chiemsee

Lake Chiemsee is undoubtedly the centrepiece of Chiemgau and a true Eldorado for swimmers. Visitors will find the best conditions for relaxing hours in the water at the numerous bathing beaches along the shore. Whether sandy beach or sunbathing lawn - there is something for everyone here. Families can let off steam in the shallow shore areas , while experienced swimmers can swim their lengths in the deep water.

Away from the well-known lidos on Lake Chiemsee, there are also numerous other natural bathing spots in Chiemgau. Nestled in unspoilt nature, these places offer pure peace and relaxation and help you forget the stresses of everyday life. Swimming in the rivers of Chiemgau, such as the Alz, is a particular attraction. The natural currents and clear, cool water offer a unique opportunity to refresh yourself in the midst of nature in Chiemgau and experience the feeling of freedom and unspoilt nature.
