In a quiet location on the north side of the Hochgern, hikers can stop off at the Brachtalm. The classic Brotzeitalm is the destination of the second stage of the SalzAlpenSteig long-distance hiking trail and offers simple overnight stays for hikers in the dormitory (pre-registration required). An imposing view of the northern slopes of the Hochgern opens up from the small pasture area. It is also worth taking a detour from the Brachtalm to the nearby Schnappenkirche, which has been enthroned high above the Achental for several hundred years.
