At 1,669 meters high, the Kampenwand main summit is not much higher than the eastern summit at 1,664 meters and the 12-meter-high summit cross. It's up to you whether you prefer to follow the hiking trails on foot and reach the Sonnenalm at approx. 1500 meters or whether you prefer to take the cable car and get to the top in 14 minutes. All that matters is the magnificent view you enjoy up here. You have a fantastic view over the Central Alps. When the weather is clear you can see from the Berchtesgaden mountains over the Steinerne Meer to the Hohe Tauern.
A hiker and biker’s paradise
The Sonnenalm is located in the middle of an extensive network of hiking trails. This means you have an ideal starting point or stage point for your hike. Or maybe you would rather explore the area by bike? A wide variety of ascent and descent variants ensure that the Kampenwand never gets boring and always offers new challenges. If you prefer to climb vertically, you will find over 100 well-secured climbing routes in the area.
And so there is nothing left to say other than: “I would like to go to the Kampenwand whenever I can with my arms – I would like to go to the Kampenwand if only I could do it with my big belly”. And even this is no reason, the Kampenwandbahn will be happy to take you up.
