Salzalpensteig

On the trail of salt

The premium long-distance hiking trail SalzAlpenSteig leads from Lake Chiemsee to Hallstätter Lake in Austria for a total of 230 kilometers. Four day stages run along the former brine pipeline in the region of Chiemgau. It goes past alpine huts and up to peaks, for example on the Hochfelln, the highest point of the SalzAlpenSteig. The “ SalzAlpenTouren” are premium-certified half-day and day hikes. The round tours offer impressive vantage points, such as the Schnappenkirche near Marquartstein, and traditional alpine huts such as the Inzeller Kohleralm. Detailed information on the current conditions for the individual stages is available on the SalzAlpenSteig website.
