A real insider tip on the north side of the Hochgern is the rustic Staudacher Alm. The alpine hut, made of natural stone, is somewhat remote at 1,150 meters and impresses with a fantastic view of Hochgern and Zwölferspitz. In terms of cuisine, hearty snacks are served here. There is no cutlery, but the large, tasty snacks are served cut into small pieces and lovingly arranged on wooden boards. The crackling bread in particular is second to none, but the home-baked cakes are also delicious. From the Staudacher Alm it is worth taking a detour to the wonderful Schnappenkirche with a view of Lake Chiemsee, which was built between 1637 and 1639.
