Tour description:

The Seeoner Seen nature reserve has existed since 1984. The lakes were formed after the end of the Ice Age. The special feature of the chain of lakes is that they have no above-ground water inflows and are fed exclusively by groundwater and rainwater, which is released underground to running water. This milieu at the Seeoner Seen favors the development of moors and wetlands with an impressive variety of species.

The hike begins in Seeon at the information pavilion. We follow the Weinbergstraße and then turn right into the Waltenbergweg, the path climbs slightly to the Feldstraße junction, from here we have a beautiful view of the Seeoner lakes and the Seeon monastery. We turn right and follow the path through the forest to Griessee. If you feel like it, you can jump into the lake at the designated bathing areas for refreshment. We circle the Griessee and follow the path back in the direction of Seeon to the Seeleitenstrasse - Weinbergstrasse. We go right along the Klostersee, past the Mozarteiche, the church of St. Walburg and the Seeon monastery. Over the footbridge we reach Bräuhausen with the church of St. Maria, we follow the Weinbergstraße on the right back to the starting point of our hike.

Note: The path can be very wet in certain sections.
