Perhaps the most famous alpine pasture in Germany is the Winklmoos-Alm, which lies at around 1150 m and belongs to Reit im Winkl. Horses and cows graze in the extensive pasture area in summer, it is a wonderful area for hiking, biking, walking and stopping off in numerous huts and mountain inns.
A visit is also worthwhile at night: the internationally recognized Dark Sky Park Winklmoos-Alm is the first Dark Sky Park in the Alps and the 4th in Germany. Star tours with an astronomer and physicist take place regularly.

In summer you can reach the Winklmoos-Alm by car via the toll road, by bus, by hiking bus from Reit im Winkl, on foot or by bike. The gondola does not run in summer!
