Tour description:
With the Hochplattenbahn you can easily get from Marquartstein with the chairlift up to the starting point of the tour. From the mountain station , the winter hiking trail around the Staffen meanders slightly uphill through the snowy winter landscape. Once at the top, follow the circular path to the right. The well-prepared circular route around the Staffen is about two kilometers long. Views of the wintry foothills of the Alps and Lake Chiemsee or enjoy the panorama of the Chiemgau Alps . With its few, only slight inclines, the path is particularly suitable for families and less experienced winter hikers.
At the end of the circular trail, the path leads slightly downhill back to its starting point at the mountain station of the Hochplattenbahn . From there, as on the way there, you take the train down into the valley. Alternatively, toboggans can be hired in advance at the valley station and the descent down the natural toboggan run can be tackled at an adventurous pace.
A8 Munich-Salzburg to the Bernau exit, then continue on the B305 to Grassau. After Grassau, turn right at the Lindenkapelle and turn right again in the Marquartstein district of Piesenhausen and follow the signs to the Hochplattenbahn.
