Fridolfing

The place of enjoyment on the Salzach

"Salzachdom" is the name of the church in the vernacular - because of its dimensions. It is 64 meters long and 21 meters wide, the tower is 65 meters high. With these dimensions, it is the largest village church in Germany.

In summer, the bathing lake in Friedolfing invites you to refresh yourself with free access and a large lawn, natural bathing beach, sun deck, large children's playground and beach volleyball court. The nature trail with 14 display boards and lots of information about the flora and fauna in the nearby Salzach floodplain also begins at the bathing lake.

Ideal for golfers and connoisseurs

High-quality regional foods play a major role in the officially awarded "Bavarian Place of Pleasure". The community is characterized by a high number of agricultural producers and direct marketers, the living tradition of craftsmanship in the food processing companies and an outstanding gastronomy, which pays particular attention to the regional origin when purchasing its products.

A high recreational value also ensures a pleasurable stay: because the originality of the floodplain landscape can be explored on flat hiking and cycling tours as well as on horse-drawn carriage rides. Golf fans can also practice teeing off and concentration on the 9-hole course in Anthal while enjoying the view.

Local history of Fridolfing

Similar to many other places ending in -ing in the Chiemgau-Area and Rupertiwinkel, there are also early signs of settlement in Fridolfing. Around 1077, the town was first mentioned in a document by King Henry IV. For more than six centuries, the area belonged to the sphere of influence of the independent archbishopric of Salzburg. After secularisation, Fridolfing became part of Bavaria in 1810 and a political municipality in 1818, as did the rest of the Rupertiwinkel. In 1885 the town got its own clinic, which still exists today. In 1894 the connection to the railway network took place with the construction of the Laufen-Tittmoning local railway.

Fridolfing personalities

From Fridolfing come Dr. Klement Aringer (born 1951), President of the State Office for Surveying and Geoinformation, and the brothers Guido and Martin Fuchs from the rock band "Die Springer".

100 places to relish in Bavaria

Bavaria is the land of customs, picture book landscapes and pleasures. In order to find out where to relish in Bavaria, the Bavarian State Ministry for Food, Agriculture and Forestry and the Bavarian State Institute for Viticulture want to make high-quality products palatable to consumersand specifically promote their appreciation. For this, 100 places to relish in Bavaria are awarded. There are two places of enjoyment in the Chiemgau-Area:

Fridolfing: Some of the homemade delicacies are the sourdough for Sunday brunch, the organic goat's cheese or the Rupertisch ham. Homemade is the motto here.

Another place of pleasure in the region: Waging
