Fantastic sunsets on the Chiemsee east bank

Which lake town can offer its guests a six kilometer long, freely accessible and flat shore with sunsets and a mountain backdrop for bathing? There is a unique combination of " Chiemsee pure" in Chieming: authentic nature experiences and active activities, at the lake and on land. It is not far by steamer to the magnificent royal palace on Herreninsel. Cycling fans start their tour around Lake Chiemsee in the cycling paradise of the Chiemsee-Chiemgau region.

Chiemingen local history

The eventful settlement history of Chieming goes back to the Bronze Age. This is made clear by a large number of archaeological finds that are exhibited in the Heimathaus. Impressive examples from Roman times are three altar stones that are walled into the bell tower of the parish church. Chiemo, a legendary tribal chief of the Bavarians, was the patron saint for the place, the lake and the entire region. The late medieval Hofmark Schloss Neuenchieming points to the importance of the place, which is in demand because of its abundance of fish, fields and forests. It is now accessible as part of historical tours and was a popular bathing spot for summer visitors around the turn of the century.
